WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a crucial and convincing home win over Pace, the Bentley men's basketball team heads to Long Island to take on Adelphi Saturday, Feb. 21, at 3:30 p.m.
Â
Sole possession of second place
When Bentley (18-7, 11-5 NE10) tipped off against Pace (15-9, 10-6 NE10) in Waltham this week (Feb. 18), both teams were tied for second place in the NE10. But the Falcons made a statement by trouncing the Setters, 77-56. It was Pace's largest conference loss of the season. Bentley trails first-place Saint Anselm (19-7, 12-4 NE10) by just one game.
Â
The Cash distributor
Cash McClure has dished out at least five assists in each of the past four games, including consecutive games with nine assists against Franklin Pierce (Feb. 7) and American International (Feb. 11). Over those past four games, McClure is averaging 7.3 assists. Not coincidentally, Bentey has shot 51.0-percent or better from the floor during that stretch.
Â
Of boards and buckets
Cooper Farrall is the conference's third-leading scorer by averaging 17.0 points per game.
Cash McClure ranks sixth in scoring with 16.0 points per game. Farrall also ranks fourth in the NE10 for rebounding (8.4), and McClure ranks eighth (6.9).
Â
Arc madness
Bentley is the conference's best shooting team from beyond the arc, connecting on 38.2-percent of its attempts from 3-point range.
Mantas Zilys far and away leads the NE10 in 3-point shooting. He is hitting 49.3-percent of his 3-point attempts, while the next best mark is 43.1-percent.
Â
They're possessed
Bentley is the best team in the NE10 at taking care of the ball, averaging only 10.3 turnovers per game. Adelphi ranks second with 12.0 turnovers per game.
Scouting Adelphi (17-9, 9-7 NE10)
The Panthers are coming off a home win over Southern Connecticut, 75-66 (Feb. 18). The team's scoring defense ranks second in the NE10 by yielding 66.7 points per game. Offensively, the Panthers' 48.2 field-goal percentage ranks second in the NE10. Dayshaun Walton (15.2) is the team's leading scorer, and Patrick Burke (6.8) is Adelphi's leading rebounder.
