WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley men's lacrosse plays its final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday at the University of Bridgeport. The Falcons host No. 1 ranked Adelphi on Saturday in one of their marquee games of the season.
The Falcons are ranked 19
th in this week's USILA poll and sport a 3-2 record They defeated Franklin Pierce 12-5 on Saturday in their first Northeast 10 game of the year. Earlier in the week they suffered an 11-7 setback at Frostburg State in a non-conference game.
Beckett Mehlhorn was named the NE10 Rookie of the Week after notching three goals and one assist in the two games.
The Falcons have been balanced on offense so far with five players scoring at least five goals.
Brendan Varnerin has a team high nine goals and
Nick Berglund leads the squad with 13 assists and 15 points.
Dante D'Amico leads the NE10 in faceoff winning percentage (72.7) and he is second in the league in ground balls per game (8.40).
Bentley and Bridgeport played last season in Waltham in the first ever meeting between the two teams and the Falcons won 16-4. The Purple Knights go into Wednesday's contest at 2-4 overall with wins over Franklin Pierce and Post.
Saturday's home game against the No. 1 ranked Panthers is one circled on the calendar every year.
Last season's game on Long Island was a tight one with Adelphi emerging 12-7 winners. They are 5-0 so far and host AIC on Tuesday night before traveling to Waltham.
Bentley's last win in the series was in the 2023 NE10 semifinals, 7-4. They played a memorably close game in the NCAA Tournament that year in Waltham with Adelphi holding off a late Falcons rally for a 9-8 win.
