#19 Falcons fall in overtime at Bridgeport 9-8

BRIDGEPORT. – #19 ranked Bentley fell on the road to Bridgeport 9-8 in a non-conference game on Wednesday.

Originally scheduled for the season opener in late February, the game was pushed back due to the winter storm.

Bridgeport's Stephen Trama scored 38 seconds into overtime after they won the opening faceoff.

Bridgeport staged a fourth quarter rally and scored the final three goals of regulation to force overtime. A Falcons goal by Thomas Hirsh at the 11:45 mark of the fourth was their final goal of the game.

The Falcons led 5-1 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 6-1 after a goal by Beckett Mehlorn 4:24 into the second quarter.

The only other goal of the second quarter was scored by Bridgeport's Ryan Thomas with 4:08 remaining.

The third quarter saw Bridgeport score the only two goals to cut Bentley's lead to 6-4 going into the final frame.

Eight different players scored the goals for Bentley.

The Falcons (3-3) next play on Saturday at home against Adelphi.
