Bentley softball set to make 2026 home opener against Saint Michael's

Michelle Diaz
WALTHAM, Mass. – After playing on the road for its first 20 games of the 2026 season, the Bentley softball team makes its home debut against Saint Michael's, March 28-29.

There's no place like home
The Falcons have posted a home record that is .500 or better in each of the past four seasons. During that stretch, Bentley has a 34-20-1 record at home.

Diaz-ling with the bat
Michelle Diaz enters the weekend as Bentley's leading hitter. She is making leaps during her sophomore season, as Diaz holds a .355 batting average after hitting .167 in 21 games last year.

Breakout campaign
Junior Ella Bunovsky showed a lot of promise her freshman season when she hit .295 in 17 games. However, Bunovsky rant into a sophomore slump and she hit just .129 in 18 games in 2025. She has turned it back around so far in 2026, hitting .340 through 17 games. What's more, Bunovsky's .415 slugging percentage far exceeds her previous two seasons, when she didn't post a slugging percentage better than .300.

DiMento's first homer
Sophomore centerfielder Carly DiMento clubbed her first-career home run at Franklin Pierce last week (March 21). It was a two-run shot in the first inning, and she totaled four RBI in the game.

Fresh arms
A trio of freshman lead the Bentley pitching staff for innings pitched so far this season. Taylor Zajak (12 appearances, five starts) has worked 39.0 innings in the circle, and Sophie Jorjorian (nine appearances, nine starts) has thrown 37.1 innings thus far. Vittoria Cuscia (11 appearances) has pitched exclusively in relief so far this season, totaling 24.0 innings.

Scouting Saint Michael's (2-12, 0-4 NE10)
The Purple Knights were swept by Pace last week (March 21-22), as Saint Michael's has 10 losses in its last nine games. Despite their unfavorable record, Saint Michael's is hitting .264 as a team, which ranks fifth in the NE10. However, the team has a conference-worst 5.86 ERA.
