Finneran, Yohe Combine for 6-Hitter; 6th Win in Last 7 for Falcons

Box Score

WINTER PARK, Fla. – A pair of right-handers from Long Island, grad student Rob Finneran (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City HS) and John Yohe (in Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic HS), combined for a six-hitter as Bentley University completed the Florida portion of its schedule with a 4-2 win over C.W. Post in non-conference college baseball Saturday afternoon at Alfond Stadium, on the campus of Rollins College.

The win was the sixth in seven games on this trip, and boosted the Falcons to 8-10 overall, including 8-3 against teams from the East Region.

Finneran, Bentley's all-time leader in winning percentage and earned run average, scattered five hits and allowed just one unearned run in six innings of work while registering his third straight win. He struck out seven and walked two, lowering his ERA to 2.55 in the process.

Yohe came on for the final three and posted the save after giving up just one hit and one unearned run. He struck out a pair.

All of Bentley's scoring came in the third inning, with the Falcons recording five of their seven hits in the inning. Sophomore center fielder Sean Keady (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS) got it going with a one-out single up the middle, and advanced to third on a balk and a stolen base. Junior second baseman Logan Gillis (Merrimack, N.H./Lawrence Academy) drove him in with a single to right center.

After a single to center by junior first baseman Lamarre Rey (Lynn, Mass./Pingree School) put runners on the corners, grad student Bryant Johnson (Hopedale, Mass./Milford HS) doubled to left center for his 14th RBI of the season.  Later in the inning, Rey and Johnson scored on a two-run single to right by senior catcher Kevin Korwek (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS).

C.W. Post (6-9) got one run back in the fourth, and completed the game's scoring with a run in the eighth.

Korwek was the only Falcon to have two hits in the game, and C.W. Post received three hits from shortstop Keith Herring (New York, N.Y.).

Bentley is scheduled to open the northern portion of the schedule with a 3:30 non-conference home game against Stonehill Wednesday.
