Bentley Wins Third Straight, 4-2 over Holy Cross

Box Score

Worcester, Mass. – Bentley won its 3rd straight game on Saturday night with a 4-2 victory over Holy Cross at the Hart Center in an Atlantic Hockey matchup.

Following last night's 4-2 win at BC, the Falcons have won all three games during the streak by 4-2 scores, and have had four different goal scorers in each game.

Junior goaltender Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) made 25 saves for his personal 3rd straight victory.

Holy Cross struck first at 9:56 of the 1st period on a goal by Jack Surowiec, but from that point Bentley scored four unanswered goals over the 2nd and 3rd periods.

Sophomore Michael Zuffante (Bloomingdale, Ill.) netted a power play goal just 1:29 into the 2nd period. Defenseman Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba) first had the puck on the blue line, and fed Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn.) in the left face-off circle, who hit Zuffante down by the goal. Zuffante skated in and scored on the near post for his 4th goal of the year and to tie the game 1-1.

At the 9:15 mark freshman defenseman Luke Orysiuk (Edmonton, Alberta), who made his season debut just yesterday, scored to give Bentley a 2-1 lead. Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) set the goal up by skating around the goal and passing to Orysiuk in the right face-off circle. Orysiuk then rifled a shot past Erik Gordon to give Bentley the lead.

About six minutes later, senior defenseman Alexey Solovyev (Moscow, Russia) scored Bentley's 3rd goal of the period, after he fired in a shot from the top of the left face-off circle and through traffic in front of the net.

Bentley held its 3-1 lead well into the 3rd period, but with just under five minutes remaining Holy Cross converted a 5-on-3 opportunity with a goal from Mitch Collett to cut the lead to 3-2 with 4:24 left.

But Bentley had an immediate answer. With the second penalty still being served, Gorowsky scored short-handed just 18 seconds later with a backhander to make it a 4-2 game.

With the win, the Falcons improved to 5-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in Atlantic Hockey games. They'll look to extend their winning streak next weekend when they host Mercyhurst at Bentley Arena.
