Bentley Falls to No. 15 Harvard, 7-3

Box Score

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 15 ranked Harvard continued its hot start to the season with a 7-3 victory over Bentley on Saturday night at the Bright Hockey Center.

Harvard opened its season on Friday night with a 9-3 victory over Dartmouth, and they carried the offense over from the previous night with five goals in the first period.

Sophomore Sean Farrell, a draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens, had two goals and two assists for the Crimson. Junior center John Farinacci, a draft pick of the Arizona Coyotes, had two goals.

Bentley's goals came from sophomore Drew Bavaro (Bradenton, Fla.) and grad students Phil Knies (Phoenix, Arizona) and Kohei Stato (Nishitokyo, Japan).

Bavaro's goal came at the 18:00 minute mark of the first period after he completed a rush into the offensive zone by finishing off a pass to the front of the net by Knies. Sato also had an assist on the goal, which made it a 4-1 game.

For Bavaro, it was his fourth straight game with a goal.

Knies' goal came on the power play at 1:33 of the 2nd period with a shot through traffic in front of the net. The goal was Knies' second of the season and his seventh point in the last four games. That cut Harvard's lead to 5-2.

In the third period Sato lit the lamp for his first goal in a Falcons uniform at the 8:30 mark. After taking a pass from junior Matt Gosiewski (Wilton, Conn.) along the boards on the left side Sato skated around to the point, just inside the blue line. Sato then fired off a low shot that got through traffic in front of the net for the goal.

That was the final goal of the game as Harvard went on to the 7-3 victory.

The Falcons (3-4-0, 1-1-0 AHA) will next be in action on Friday night. That will be the start of a home Atlantic Hockey series against Canisius. Game times are 7:05 pm on Friday and 4:05 pm on Saturday.
