No. 18 Bentley Blanks Pace, 26-0, for 11th Straight Win

Box Score

WALTHAM, Mass. – Grad student Andrew Brazicki (Franklin Park, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) and senior Anthony Duong (Lowell/Lowell HS) combined for 193 rushing yards and two TD, and grad student Jack Scordato (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo HS) had a pick-six, as the Bentley University Falcons stayed unbeaten with a 26-0 win over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference football Saturday afternoon at home.

Bentley improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 NE10 while extending its winning streak to 11 games. That's the longest for the Falcons since one of the same length from 2002-03. Ironically, Falcon head coach Bill Kavanaugh was a team captain of the 2003 team, which won its first ten games.

Brazicki finished one yard shy of 100 on 17 carries and Doung gained 94 on 21 rushes. Both went up the middle for their touchdowns, Duong for 21 yards in the second and Brazicki for 17 in the third.

After a scoreless first quarter, Duong gave Bentley the lead with 8:45 left in the second when he broke through on a third-and-one. That was a quick drive, only three plays and 30 yards, after a short Setter punt and an 11-yard return by senior Abel Lopes Jr. (Scituate/Scituate HS).

With exactly a minute left in the first half, a 38-yard pass from senior QB Stephen Sturm (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) to senior wide receiver Noah Neville (Boston/Newton North HS) made it a 12-0 game. It was Sturm's 47th career TD pass and the 13th career TD for Neville, who finished with four catches for 78 yards.

It remained a two-possession game until Brazicki took it in on a third-and-seven to make it 19-0 with 2:42 left in the third quarter. That was a five-play, 50-yard drive that included a 13-yard catch by Neville and an unsportsmanlike conduct flag on the winless Setters (0-5, 0-3 NE10).

Scordato accounted for the only TD of the fourth when he picked off a pass at the Pace 31 and took it the distance for Bentley's third pick-six of the season.

The Bentley D limited Pace to 146 total yards, including only 42 on 14 of 30 passing. Senior Ore Ojo (West Roxbury/Catholic Memorial HS) also had an interception and junior Matt Severance (Lynn/Lynn English HS) led the Falcons with nine tackles and two pass break-ups.

Bentley finished with 369 yards total offense and 20 first downs, twice as many as the visitors. With 47 of the team's plays rushes, Sturm only threw the ball 20 times, completing 12 for 163 yards.

Next Saturday, Bentley will be on the road for a 2 pm contest at Southern Connecticut State.
