Bentley Defeats AIC 3-1 at Home to Split Series

Box Score

WALTHAM, Mass. - Two goals from Nik-Armstrong Kingkade and goaltender Nicholas Grabko making 20 saves on 21 shots led Bentley to a bounce-back victory over AIC 3-1 on Friday night.

After AIC won the series opener 3-0 on Thursday, the Yellow Jackets picked up where they left off when John Lundy scored on the power play after a blocked shot 4:08 into the first period. Dustin Manz and Brian Kramer got the assists.

A few minutes later, the Falcons had a power play opportunity of their own and capitalized on it. It was the captain, Ethan Leyh, with his second of the season off of a one-timer in the slot with 9:33 to play in the first period. Stephen Castagna helped set it up with a pass from behind the net, and Nick Bochen picked up an assist as well.

The second period was scoreless most of the way until the 16:56 mark, where Nik Armstrong-Kingkade buried a rebound to give Bentley their first lead of the night at 2-1. Stephen Castagna recorded his second assist of the night with the initial shot that was saved, and Leyh's secondary assist was his second point of the night.

Bentley kept its 2-1 lead deep into the third period and AIC pulled their goalie with three minutes to play. Grabko and the Falcons defense came up with some key stops, and Armstrong-Kingkade scored his second of the night into an empty net in the final fraction of a second, to secure the 3-1 victory.

The Falcons improved to 4-4-0 on the season as a result and will take on Niagara Friday night from Waltham.
