WALTHAM, Mass. – Six players from the NCAA Tournament bound Bentley women's soccer team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team on Tuesday.
Claire Ewen,
Jillian Hendriksen,
Sydney O'Connor,
Gabby Vachon,
Sophia Killeen and
Ryenne Feeney all received the accolade, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
Ewen and Hendriksen advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Ewen, a goalkeeper, was named third team All-NE10 and she leads the NE10 in save percentage (.896). That number is the 6
th best in Division II. Her 11 shutouts are tied for the 9
th most in Division II. She is a double major in both quantitative economics and liberal studies.
Hendriksen was voted first team All-Conference for the second straight year. She has been a key part of a defense that has conceded just 11 goals in 18 matches and has five straight shutouts going into the NCAA Tournament. She is majoring in management.
O'Connor is on the Academic All-District team for the third straight year. Majoring in corporate finance and accounting, she is a starting midfielder and a team captain along with Ewen and Hendriksen.
Vachon has started all 18 matches and has played the full 90 minutes in 11 straight contests. She leads the team with four assists and is majoring in computer information systems. Vachon is an Academic All-District honoree for the second straight year.
Killeen has started all 18 matches and has played the full 90 in all but one. She and Hendriksen have formed one of the top center back pairings in the region and have helped the Falcons keep 11 clean sheets. She is pursuing her MBA.
Feeney, who is pursuing her MBA in accounting, is another key member of Bentley's backline as a fullback. She has played every minute this season and has contributed offensively as well with one goal and three assists. This is her third straight Academic All-District honor.
