WALTHAM, Mass. – Winners of three games in a row and 10 out of 11, Bentley field hockey travels up to #9 Saint Anselm on Wednesday night for a 7:00 pm contest.
The Falcons will go into Wednesday's game with a 10-5 record and 8-1 in Northeast 10 games. That record has them tied for first place with Assumption.
Just three games remain in the regular season as the battle for playoff positioning and home field advantage intensifies. The top eight teams in the standings qualify for the NE10 Championship and the quarterfinals begin on Tuesday, November 4.
This will be the second meeting between the Falcons and Hawks this season. Saint Anselm won an early season, non-conference game in Waltham on September 10 by a score of 2-1.
The Falcons blanked AIC and St. Thomas Aquinas by scores of 4-0 and 8-0 last week. That marked the seventh time this season they have scored at least four goals in a game.
Bentley leads the NE10 in goals per game at 3.60, a number that ranks sixth nationally.
Senior
McKenzie Carey scored four goals against the Spartans for her second game with at least a hat trick this season. That also equaled the most goals scored by an NE10 player in a game this season.
Bentley has three of the top-10 goal scorers in the NE10, with
Gracie Moore tied for second (10), Carey tied for sixth (9) and
Layla Conway tied for ninth (8).
Moore leads the league with nine assists and she is second with 29 points.
Saint Anselm goes into Wednesday's game at 10-5 overall and 7-2 NE10. Its most recent game was a 3-0 victory over Southern Connecticut on Saturday.
After Wednesday's game, the Falcons will be off this weekend. They play again on October 28 at home against Franklin Pierce in the penultimate game of the regular season, before closing out the regular season at home against Pace on November 1.
