WALTHAM, Mass. – Brook Capello, the winningest softball coach in Simmons history, has been named head coach of Bentley softball. Capello spent the previous 10 years as head coach at Simmons, an NCAA DIII member in Boston.
"We are excited to have Coach Capello join Falcon Nation," said Bentley Director of Athletics
Vaughn Williams. "She was someone we had great interest in during the interview process. She brings everything you want in a leader for student-athletes. I look forward to assisting her build on the success that we have had in the last few years."
Capello led Simmons to its first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title in 2023, and the Sharks repeated as conference champions in 2024.
"I would like to thank Director of Athletics,
Vaughn Williams, for entrusting me with the opportunity to lead the Bentley University softball program," said Capello. "I know the future is bright for the softball team following its finish as an East Region 1 finalist in 2025. I am excited to be a part of their next steps and continued success on and off the field."
Capello is the winningest coach in Simmons history. During her tenure, the Sharks earned 73 Scholar-Athlete recognitions from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The program also placed nine NFCA All-Region honorees, and the Sharks claimed GNAC Pitcher of the Year in each of the past four seasons.
Capello was named the GNAC Coach of the Year in 2019, and Simmons earned NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in 2023.
Prior to Simmons, Capello was the head coach at DIII Newbury. She earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coach of the Year in 2013. Newbury placed its first-ever All-Region recipient under Capello's leadership.
Capello takes over a Bentley program that has reached the NCAA DII Championship in two of the past three seasons, and the Falcons have posted a winning record three of the past four seasons.
