Box Score SPRINGFLED, Mass. – Brendan Sencaj and three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Bentley baseball team to a 10-6 non-conference win at American International Wednesday.
AIC held a 3-0 lead after two innings, but the Falcons tied things up in the third.
Curt Heath led off by getting hit by a pitch, and
Tommy Goonan followed with a double.
Tommy Bolton drew a walk to load the bases, and a single by Sencaj scored two runners.
Sencaj and Bolton executed a double steal, and an errant throw by the catcher allowed Bolton to score the tying run, 3-3.
Bentley added two more runs the next inning. Goonan hit a double to left field, and Bolton followed with a single that put runners on the corners with one out. Once again, Sencaj delivered an RBI hit, and Goonan touched home and Bolton moved up to second. A groundout allowed both Bolton and Sencaj to move up a base, and Bolton came into score on a wild pitch to make it a 6-3 Bentley lead.
The Falcons led by one, 7-6, entering the ninth inning. But they added an insurance run, and then some.
Nick Pappas led off with a walk, move to second on a wild pitch, and stole third. He scored on a sac fly hit by
Jimmy Mitchell.
Jack Matthews added an RBI single, and
Jake Maydak scored on a wild pitch after he reached base with a single.
Sencaj finished the game 3-for-5, and Goonan went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Bentley (23-12, 10-5 NE10) returns to Northeast-10 action at Saint Anselm Saturday, April 19.
