Six Falcons earn All-Region honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Six players from Bentley baseball earned All-Region honors as the team prepares to play in its first ever Division II College World Series.

The organizations announcing its All-Region teams were the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

 
Nick Pappas (Graduate Student | Outfielder)
Pappas was voted first team All-Region by all three organizations and last week was announced as a third team All-America by the NCBWA.

He leads the team with a .399 batting average and in game two of the Super Regional against Molloy, became the first player in program history to surpass 100 hits in a single season.

The Boston, Mass., native has 12 homers, 61 RBI and leads the team with a .463 on-base percentage.


Stan DeMartinis III (Graduate Student | DH)
The cleanup hitter in the Falcons' devastating lineup, DeMartinis III received first team honors from all three organizations.

He broke the program record for both single-season and career home runs on May 1 and comes into the World Series with 23 long balls on the season to rank fifth in Division II. He leads the team in slugging percentage (.675) and is second in RBI (77).

He launched two homers in Bentley's game two win over Wilmington in the East Regional to help force the decisive game three.

 
Jared Berardino (Graduate Student | Outfielder)
Berardino was named to the ABCA's first team and the NCBWA's and D2CCA's second team.

He has a .373 batting average with 19 home runs and 59 RBI heading into the World Series. He leads the squad with a 1.131 OPS.

In Bentley's 10 postseason games so far, he leads the team with a .390 average and has mashed four homers.


Pat Heber (Senior | Pitcher)
Heber has starred on the mound for the Falcons and was named first team by both the ABCA and D2CCA and second team by the NCBWA.

The lefty from Garden City, N.Y., is 10-0 on the season with a 3.70 ERA and 93 strikeouts. He's been a workhorse with a team leading 90 innings pitched.

In the postseason he is 3-0 with a 1.66 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched. He tossed eight shutout innings in Bentley's game one Super Regional victory over Molloy.

 
Brendan Sencaj (Junior | Utility)
Sencaj was selected first team All-Region by the NCBWA and D2CCA and to the ABCA's second team.

He's batting .353 with 17 homers and a team best 80 RBI. He's second on the team with a 1.106 OPS. Sencaj has also been stellar in the field between centerfield and first base with a .985 fielding percentage.

In the game three Super Regional victory over Molloy, he blasted a clutch solo home run in the sixth inning to tie the game 1-1.

 
Curt Heath (Sophomore | Second Baseman)
Heath garnered second team All-Region honors from the ABCA and D2CCA.

Entering the World Series, Heath is second on the Falcons with a .375 batting average. He's fourth in hits (78) and on-base percentage (.456).

In the 10 postseason games he's hitting .344.
