Former Bentley netminder Steve Chwaliszewski '77 became the third former Falcon hockey player to be inducted into the Bentley Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986, following in the footsteps of Jim Mills '70, a 1985 honoree, and classmate Mark Canavan (inducted in 1984). Steve, a native of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, was Bentley's number one goalie from 1973 to 1977, during which time the Falcons competed very successfully at the club level under the direction of Coach Joe Quinn.

As a sophomore; Steve helped Bentley to a 10-5-1 record while posting a 4.08 goals against average His outstanding game came in a 4-3 victory over Nasson College as he turned away 22 shots in the third period alone in the midst of a seven-game unbeaten streak.

The following two seasons saw the Falcons post back-to-back records of 13-2 and 17-2 as the team continued to lay the groundwork for what has turned out to be a successful varsity program. The 1976-77 team was outstanding, winning its final eleven games and outscoring its opponents by an average of five goals a contest.

Steve was a major reason for the success. During that season, he allowed just 1.99 goals a game and posted three shutouts (Assumption twice and Gordon once) while compiling a sensational save percentage of .923. Although the Falcons played only half their schedule against varsity opponents, these numbers become even more impressive when one considers that the ECAC Division Ill record for goals against average is 2.72. His performances did not go unnoticed during his fine career. He received the award for Best Team Attitude as a freshman and was the MVP as a sophomore. He also was an assistant captain his final year.
