The premier scorer and winningest coach in Bentley hockey history, Ryan Soderquist starred for the Falcons from 1996 to 2000 before embarking on a 21-year run as head coach.

Ryan, who hails from nearby Stoneham, finished his career as Bentley’s all-time leading scorer and remains at the top of the list today with 84 points, 89 assists and 173 points. He’s also the Falcons career leader in short-handed goals with nine.

Ryan was Bentley’s top scorer in three of his four seasons, including his sophomore campaign when he shattered school records with 33 goals and 59 points. The Falcons transitioned to the Division MAAC Hockey League prior to his senior year and he responded with 19 goals and a career-best 29 helpers for 48 points.

Among the many honors he amassed as a player was first-team Division II All-America by the sports information directors in 1998. Ryan was a New England Hockey Writer All-Star and a first-team All-ECAC Central selection as a sophomore and a first-team All-MAAC selection as a senior.

During his long stretch directing the Falcons fortunes, Ryan earned 277 wins and collected conference Coach of the Year honors in 2003, 2009 and 2012.
