Bentley University

The first athletic director in the college's history (a position he held from 1963-91), Al Shields was also Bentley's first basketball coach, compiling a 258-106 record from 1963-78.  A two-time Coach of the Year honoree, he served on the NCAA Council and was the commissioner of the Northeast-10 Conference from its incep­tion in 1979 until January 1990.
