As one of the most prolific rushers in Falcons' football history, Greg Novarro refined the running back position at Bentley. Greg never seemed to tire and opposing tacklers rarely were able to stop him. He consistently was an all-conference selection at both running back and punter.

"Greg was a very talented runner and a tremendous punter," said Head Coach Peter Yetten prior to Greg’s 1999 induction.  "He was very durable and got stronger and stronger as the game went on. Greg always found a way to score.

When we were inside the 10-yard line, he got the ball. He was a great finisher because he had a nose for the end zone.”

His performance during his final season was one that may never be equaled by a running back, particularly his incredible 25 touchdowns during a 10-game regular season schedule. He led NCAA Division Ill in total points (150) while singlehandedly scoring 15 points a game. Greg also rushed for a Bentley record 1,384 yards and averaged nearly 157 all-purpose running yards a game.

That effort earned him Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Player of the Year accolades for the second time in three years and also made him the first Division Ill All-America in Bentley history. He was selected to the Champion Division Ill second team, among a host of other honors.

The Clinton, Conn. native saved the best for last, as he concluded the regular season with 557 yards and eight touchdowns in the final two games. Included was a whopping 317 yards against St. John's.

After transferring from Boston University, Greg wasted no time in making his presence felt on the football field at Bentley. In his first fall for the Falcons, during a 7-1 season, Greg scored 13 of the team's 21 touchdowns on the year and accounted for 53 percent of the team's offense.

Scoring at least one touchdown in every game, he led Bentley in rushing (928 yards), was second with 129 receiving yards and averaged 36.7 yards per punt.

At the time of his induction, Greg still owned 18 school records, including the career standards for points (252 points), touchdowns (42) and rushing yards (2,628).
Greg passed away in February 2024.
