During her two-sport career at Bentley, Patty Flanigan had the opportunity to play in 165 games between field hockey and softball from 1983-87. She played in 163, missing just one in each sport in 1986.

Playing link in the fall for the field hockey team, Patty helped the team to an NCAA Division Il Tournament appearance as a freshman, an NCAA Division Ill Tournament selection as a junior and the NCAA Division Ill Northeast Regional Championship and a Final Four berth as a senior.

The Falcons' record during her four seasons was 48-15-4 including a 13-game winning streak to start the 1986Â season.

Patty, who was ranked fourth in career scoring at the time of her 1996 induction with 34 goals and 18 assists for 86 points, had scored 15 goals and five assists for 35 points as a senior. She was the program's first All-America, earning first-team kudos from the College Field Hockey Coaches Association in both 1985 and 1986.

"Winning the regional and making it to the final four my senior season was something that the team expected to do because we came within one game of doing the same thing the year before," Patty said.

When spring rolled around, the two-sport standout put on the catcher's equipment for the softball team and helped the Falcons to a four-year record of 50-48. Each season, she was among the top four on the team in batting average and hit .299 for her career.

As a freshman in 1984, the Marshfield, Mass. native was tied for the team lead with a pair of triples and 12 RBIs. Patty had 22 hits and a .328 batting average that year.

Her sophomore season was the best offensive year of her career. She led the Falcons in hits (26) and RBIs (20) and was tied for the team high with five doubles and three triples. Her batting average that season was .356.
