Thomas L. Morison, the college's third president, served as Bentley's chief executive officer from 1961 to 1970, a pivotal decade in the history of the institution.

It was under the dynamic leadership and guidance of President Emeritus Morison that the college moved from Boylston Street in Boston to the beautiful suburban campus in Waltham that we know today. Groundbreaking for the new campus took place in 1965 and three years later, the site, including 12 simultaneously constructed buildings, was ready for occupancy.

During his tenure, Bentley awarded its first baccalaureate degrees in 1964 and earned accreditation from the New England Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, Inc.

lt was also during the Morison presidency that the college instituted what would develop into one of the most respected athletic programs in New England. Bentley fielded its first varsity teams during the 1963-64 academic year, competing in men's basketball, cross country, golf. skiing and tennis. Before the decade was completed, track and baseball were added to the list of offerings.

A graduate of Bentley's Evening Division, Morison returned to the college in 1946 as an instructor in accountancy. He held the administrative positions of secretary-treasurer, vice president and executive vice president before assuming the presidency.

President Morison passed away in 1990.
