Hall of Fame
Paul Bolick was one of the top student-athletes at Bentley College in the mid-1980s, both on the track as well as in the classroom.
Â
Paul was named to the GTE Academic All-America® men's at-large second-team following his junior and senior seasons by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Â
"Out of any award that I won, I am most proud of the Academic All-America award because it combines both athletics and academics," said the Ellington, Conn. native. "It shows that you're equivalent to an All-America in the classroom as well as the sport."
Â
As a sophomore in 1984, Paul was named as the Northeast-8 Conference Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year. He also named to the AII-Northeast-8 team and won the team's Coach's Award.
Â
"Winning the Rookie of the Year award meant a lot to me because I had never run cross country before," Paul said. "I was strictly a track runner in high school."
Â
Paul was also an All-Conference honoree as a junior and senior. He was the team's captain in 1986 and the Falcons' MVP in 1985 and 1986.
Â
During the track season of 1984, Paul, then a freshman, competed in the NCAA Division II Championships, competing in the steeplechase and finishing eighth. He also finished eighth at the National TAC Juniors championship, and earned All-New England honors in the steeplechase in 1984 and 1986.
Â
Paul set four school records in track, two of which still stand today. He ran the indoor 5,000 meters in 14:55.1 at the 1985 New England TAC Championships and is also the standard bearer in the steeplechase, a time of 9:04.87 set at the 1984 New Englands.
Â
Paul was elected to the Bentley College Falcon Society, an honor which comes from the Office of the Vice President and the Dean of Student Affairs.
Â
Paul’s son, Tim, followed in his father’s footsteps, running track and cross country at Bentley, and earning Academic All-America honors in 2017
